"NYSSOGS Hall of Fame News"
Coach Mike Reilly will be inducted into the NYSSCOGS High School Girls Soccer Hall of Fame with the 2022 class. "Coach Reilly is being inducted into the Hall of Fame a little earlier than probably expected by him as he has been quite humbled by the gesture. However, as a Coach/Contributor you are eligible immediately. The amount of contributions Coach Reilly has dedicated himself to in the name of girls' soccer entirely, but specifically for HS Girls Soccer and the importance of school sports, the promotion of the game along with the vast amount of time and sacrifices he has made to the HS Girls Soccer landscape locally, regionally and nationally is insurmountable and should be recognized sooner than the later. Along with his contributions, Coach Reilly successes as a coach do not go unnoticed! So noticeable it is, he has been named NYS Coach of the Year twice, MSG Varsity Tri-State Coach of the Year and United Soccer Coaches Regional Coach of the Year and USC National COY Nominee. AND these are just a few of his accomplishments and recognitions. Over 250 wins, 10 Sectional Championships, 13 League Championships, 3 Regional and 1 State Title. We are excited to have Coach Reilly part of our Hall of Fame inductees and a forever member." Coach Reilly will share this honor with his second high school Player inductee, Islip's Jessica Herrmann. Sue Weber a 2002 Islip graduate was inducted into the inaugural HOF class. |
250 Win Milestone for Coach Mike ReillyCoach Reilly hit another milestone in 2021. After being named NYS Coach of the Year and United Soccer Coaches Regional Coach of the Year in March of 2021 during a Covid changed Fall to Spring Season, Coach Reilly in his 20th year with Islip High School won his 250th match this Fall 2021 season.
Coach Reilly has an 20 year career record all with the Lady Bucs of 251-68-27. He ranks 2nd all-time in Suffolk County behind Harborfields coach Scott Wallace who completed his 31st year as Head Coach of the Tornadoes winning his 300th this past season. "I don't aspire to win more games as Scott, I just want to be considered as good as a coach as he is. Scott is one of the best coaches I have seen in my career", said Reilly. |
Congrats to the West Islip Boys Varsity Soccer team winning its first County Championship since 1973. The Lions would then go on to defeat Westbury Capturing its first Long Island Championship and State Championship appearance.
Coach Reilly and MPR has trained/coached most of the 2021 Championship Lion squad and has done so since u9!!! WISC Teams like the WI Alliance and WI Lightning have won numerous League, State and LISJL LI CUP championships along the way. No better way to finish out a 10 year career together with a high school LIC and State Championship. "Well Done Boys, Well Done..." |

We were simply thrilled to have had the opportunity to learn, develop, train and compete this season. In these unprecedented times, we collaborated to "make it work", abided by all recommended return to play protocols and made it through the season healthy, energized and with excitement. MPR is proud of all of our teams, players, parents, coaches and trainers.
Congratulations on your continued pathway of development. Every team succeeded because we all continued to learn, develop and grow both as individuals and as a team. We certainly had our fair share of tournament and league champions, but more so we had 100% of our teams enjoy playing the sport we all know and love, continued to learn and grow and continued to strive to better tomorrow than they were the day before no matter what the result was. Well done Everyone... |
